2016 Ram Laramie Limited will remain the top model, but it should also be one of the first to adopt design changes which are due to appear in rest of the lineup as well, sometime along the road. Ram trucks are most people’s favorites in half-ton segment. Apart from their retro design, they do tend to mix things up and offer as many trim levels as you can imagine and there’s something for everyone.
Engine & Performance
2016 Ram Laramie Limited can’t be ordered with base engine. In other words, it is reserved for the strongest options with best performances. Base powertrain here is 5.7L Hemi V-8 making 395 hp and 407 lb-ft of torque. It comes with both rear and all-wheel drive configurations, but latter option offers another choice; 3.0L turbo diesel V-6. Oil burner puts up 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque while being tied to the same 8-speed automatic transmission as the Hemi unit.
Outside view
As already mentioned, 2016 Ram Laramie Limited is the top tier model which is supposed to adopt the upcoming design changes before others and, thus lead by an example. Sad thing is that we’ll have to say goodbye to the crosshair grille. Instead Laramie Limited range is about to adopt Rebel’s new grille with large Ram lettering upon it, only in chrome. Rest of it shouldn’t be changed that much, but losing a trademark feature is usually enough to change a car considerably, anyway.
Laramie Limited grade will offer plenty of chrome across its body. Apart from fully chromed grille, it will offer chromed bumpers, rocker panels, side steps and mirror caps, together with either standard 20-inch steel or optional 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. You can only order it with largest Crew cab config, but at least you can choose the bed length as there are 5.7 and 6.4-foot options available.
Inside view
Laramie Limited Ram’s interior is fully clothed in leather. There’s plenty of polished, soft surfaces, and if you desire so, you can even coat the cabin with wood grain. Front seats get standard heaters and coolers, and rear seats too, get the heating option. Every 2016 Ram Laramie Limited comes with 8.4-inch touch screen unit with GPS navigation, HD radio and voice commands. In fact, they offer the full luxury experience which other Ram’s, and most of other full-size trucks can’t.
2016 Ram Laramie Limited – Price & MPG
Base Hemi powertrain manages to return 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel drive lowers highway figure by a point. On the other hand, turbo diesel deserves the plaudits with 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Laramie Limited models cost at least $49,500 in rear-wheel drive config, while reaching $53,500 with all-wheel drive. It has to be noted, though, that turbo diesel engine takes additional $3,120 to be acquired.
2016 Ram Laramie Limited is epitome of luxury in full-size truck market. Apart from being highly refined and capable, it can also be quite fuel-efficient for a few dollars more thanks to the optional diesel V-6 engine. Finally, it has also been chosen to incorporate the upcoming changes as one of the first models with modern look.
