2016 Cadillac CT6 is a step in both directions. It is a step backwards, into past as new full-size sedan is actually the first real flagship Cadillac had made in recent years. On the other hand, it is a step forward since most of future lineup will be based exactly on this, head of the family car.
CT6 might be the answer for all German manufacturer’s increased activity in large sedan production, and shows staunch commitment on Cadillac’s part to remain competitive to the best of their abilities.
Under the Hood
There’s a slight possibility that Cadillac will introduce a whole batch of new powertrains for its future lineup and they should debut right here, in 2016 Cadillac CT6. However, even if that happens, these engines certainly won’t make it in time to appear initially. That’s why Cady’s new flagship sedan will most likely be powered by 3.6L twin-turbo V6 engine, already found in CTS Sport models, and capable of putting up 420 horsepower.
Another option, besides the base engine, could be new, fifth generation small-block V8 engine, possibly in all three available displacement units. Finally, expect 8-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive, while optional all-wheel drive should also be offered from the get-go.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Design
There aren’t many things that could be said about 2016 Cadillac CT6 besides that it will be a pure blooded Cadillac with long wheelbase. It will feature well-known body language which is present in most of the current lineup of GM’s luxury division. This means that it’ll get upswept headlights up front and thin, vertical tail-lights around the back. Rest of the car is pretty straightforward as it will feature some gracious lines with a lot of flair. New Cadillac CT6 is based on the new platform, well-known like a Omega II.
Interior refinement will be of purest quality, at least as far as American luxury cars go. There won’t be many trim levels here, if any, but 2016 Cadillac CT6 will be offered with plenty of options in both material and color departments. Needless to say that even its features will be top class and there will be abundance of the same. Apart from all connectivity options, heated and ventilated seats, advanced climate control, premium audio surround system and functional infotainment system, CT6 will offer high-resolution streaming video rearview mirror.
This essentially means that Cadillac plans to deploy more than the usual number of cameras which further implies that its safety systems will include surround-view monitors among other features. As far as options are concerned, it should get rear seat entertainment system, panoramic sunroof and some advanced safety features like radar-based adaptive cruise control.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Price
It is still early to talk about its fuel economy figures, but it can safely be expected that CT6 won’t exactly make itself famous thanks to this category. Its price is another segment which won’t be appealing to wide range of car enthusiasts as it isn’t going to be offered for less than $75,000. The main competitors are: Audi A8, BMW 7, Lexus LS, Jaguar XJ and Mercedes S class.
2016 Cadillac CT6 will be a range topping GM’s luxury car, and first one of its like in many years. It will compete against some tough opponents, and flagship sedan market could become even more competitive in near future regardless of CT6.
